DAY 10
A sense of bittersweet emotions filled the air as the final day of our immersion program at the Suba-Masulog Health Center unfolded. We spent the morning building stronger relationships with our peers and having genuine discussions with the committed healthcare professionals. I felt a feeling of melancholy come over me as we were ready to say goodbye to the Health Center, knowing that our immersed experience was coming to an end. In spite of the loss, the relationships we forged there acted as a reminder of the priceless moments we had in common.
During lunch, we said the STEC greeting, "From STEC SHS, Thank you and see you around," as a brief but heartfelt way to thank those who had greeted us so warmly. We left the City Health Center with a strong sense of nostalgia in our emotions, traveling to Tamiya to get the foods that would symbolize the end of our stay there. Every step we took was a reflection of the connections and experiences we had made during our immersion.
I was given the honor of giving a speech at the culminating event, where I was also tasked with managing the preliminary activities. I was reminded of the significant influence our time at the Health Center had on me as I relived my encounters and treasured memories with the patients, medical staff, our peers, and our head nurse. Every encounter, from the tender moments of care shared with patients to the cooperative endeavors with committed healthcare professionals, profoundly impacted my path to comprehending the intricacies of healthcare provision and the significance of community involvement.
Looking back, as our immersion program came to an end, I am so appreciative that I had the chance to be a part of something so life-changing. In addition to the clinical expertise I have acquired, the relationships I have cultivated and the lessons I have learned about empathy, resiliency, and the strength of teamwork will continue to influence my viewpoint as a future member of the healthcare industry. Even though our stay at the Suba-Masulog Health Center is coming to a close, the experiences and lessons learned will always be engraved in our hearts and serve as a guide for our future travels.
