DAY 1
As it was Monday during our first day of Work Immersion, it was less busy so all we had to do was mostly observe our surroundings. Entering the front door, we were greeted with big smiles from the Barangay Health Workers which made me ease my nervousness. After a while, the head nurse arrived then called us to her office. She mostly talked about how we should relax and enjoy our Work Immersion and always ask if there is something that we cannot understand. With her words, I was quite relieved that she is not a strict person, but rather an outgoing person who is approachable and warm. Throughout the day, I was mostly tasked to review and update the Family Planning records of the patients in Suba-Masulog. I spent hours reviewing and updating a bunch of papers dating from the year 2020 that I needed to update until this year. Despite the many papers in front of me, I was still eager to do my job to give them the best first impression of me.
Aside from updating the records, I was also able to try to measure the height and weight of a baby and the blood pressure of the mother. It was endearing to me to be able to check the baby as I aspire to become a Pediatrician at some point in my life. Though handling a baby is not easy, with patience and the help of other people, it can be quite heartwarming to do.
Though the day was not quite busy as there were only a few to no patients that visited, I was still happy with how my first day went. All I can say is that my first day of Work Immersion went smooth sailing!
